Project Overview
DigiDoctor is a mobile application that aims to connect patients with doctors through video consultations. The app allows patients to schedule appointments with licensed medical professionals, consult with them online, and receive prescriptions if necessary. This case study illustrates how Omnist leveraged the DigiDoctor app idea to help develop a robust healthcare platform.
Delays due to crowded clinics. DigiDoctor: Online appointment scheduling eliminates long waits.
Difficult access to healthcare for remote patients. DigiDoctor: Remote consultations ensure access regardless of location.
Market Challenges and Solution
Increased demand for remote consultations to reduce virus transmission. DigiDoctor: Secure video calls for home consultations.
Limited resources for offering online consultations. DigiDoctor: Easy-to-use platform for telehealth, accessible to all providers.
Product Development Approach
Requirement Gathering & Analysis
The requirement gathering process for a new agile development project can be seen daunting at first. In this expert response, Omnist offers advice on how to begin using elicitation techniques and choosing analysis models that fit your business needs. At this stage our team of analysts identified the industry statistics keeping in view the requirements and the latest trends in the market, breakdown the app at a very niche level and look for various other features that can be implemented in the app.
Wireframing
This is the first and the foremost phase of the app. During this phase the app undergoes many changes wherein the blueprints of the app were made in the form of sketches and then transformed into real prototypes with the help of various interactive wireframing tools like Balsamiq, Justin Mind, and InVision. There were multiple integrations with native features in the phones like accessing contacts’ directory from the page enlisting specialties. All these integrations had to be hassle free. The UX was carefully studied before establishing the order of the pages. After which the in-app navigation features were im.plemented. Dropdown menus were trimmed to be compact. The result of all this had to be a lucid app that the doctors and their patients both could access and adapt to easily
Product Development
The Digidoctor app was developed using a hybrid model, with both native and web-based components. The app's frontend was developed using React Native, which allowed for a faster development process and better compatibility with various devices. The backend was developed using Node.js and MongoDB, providing a scalable and flexible architecture. The app's frontend and backend communicate through REST APIs, which are secured using JSON Web Tokens (JWT). DigiDoctor uses Twilio as a cloud communication platform for video calling feature which provides a reliable way to handle video calls and ensures a smooth user experience.
Data Security
To ensure the safety and confidentiality of patient data, the DigiDoctor app uses advanced encryption and security protocols. All user data, including medical records and personal information, is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption. The app's frontend and backend communicate through HTTPS, which encrypts all data in transit. User authentication is handled through JWT, which uses a secure encryption algorithm to ensure that only authorized users can access patient data.
Data Storage
The DigiDoctor app uses MongoDB as its primary database, providing a flexible and scalable solution for managing patient data. The app's database is divided into several collections, including patient records, appointment schedules, and payment details. To ensure data redundancy and disaster recovery, the app's database is replicated across multiple servers, with backups taken regularly to prevent data loss.
Testing
At this point, bug fixing was carried out simultaneously with quality testing. We accumulate acknowledgement from the app specific target audience and conduct research on consumer opinions as a part of our testing also known as pilot launch. The security subject matter experts review all the security risks that were identified in previous phases and verified that they were fixed during testing. A proper release plan is carved out for DigiDoctor keeping in mind its target audience, which includes coordinating with the production support and release management teams to make the security monitoring and response plan.
Result
As a result of our thorough and methodical approach we are able to present a unique app with a groundbreaking user experience. The app offers several features to provide patients with a convenient and accessible way to receive medical attention. Here are some of the key features of the DigiDoctor mobile app developed and implemented by the Omnist team.
Conclusion
DigiDoctor is an innovative solution to the growing demand for online medical consultations. To launch the app, DigiDoctor partnered with various medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers, to provide a comprehensive range of services. The app was initially launched in select cities and was later expanded to cover the entire country.
Since its launch, DigiDoctor has been successful in providing affordable, accessible healthcare to people across the country. The app has received positive feedback from both patients and healthcare providers, with many citing its convenience and ease of use as major benefits. The app has also helped to reduce the burden on hospitals and clinics, which has become increasingly important during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With continued development and expansion, DigiDoctor has the potential to become an essential tool for healthcare providers and patients alike.
